Grand Re-Opening of Artypants

Crop Night
After a very busy lead up of packing up the Hampton Park store we only had a week to set up the new Cranbourne store. People came from everywhere to help Judy and Jodie be ready on time for the Grand Re-Opening on Saturday 28th July.

On Friday, 27th July we had our first pre opening Cranbourne Crop. This night was fully booked out weeks ago and the new class/crop room was packed to the brim. We managed to fit 24 people in there without being too cramped. Judy, Jodie, Jenny and Melinda (Judy's other daughter and teacher at Micayla's school) were still busy putting the final touches out in the store, so they weren't in the crop room with us and we did miss them not being in there. I was busy putting together some more samples for the make and takes for the opening day.

This is what the new class/crop room looks like. Every spot was full but some people were shopping in the store.

And here is Laura, anxiously awaiting the birth of her baby. We were worried she was going to interrupt our scrapping and go into labour. Thanks Laura for not doing that.

Half way through the night Judy came in to officially welcome everyone to the first Cranbourne Crop night and to thank all those that had helped with the move. We cracked open some champagne and nearly cracked open the roof. The corked popped off and went flying into the ceiling leaving a big dint in the roof. At first we thought the cork was stuck in the roof. ROFL

The top photo standing left to right is Jenny, then me and Judy. The other photo has Jodie standing, Bec sitting in the middle and Shae next to her.

This is the layout I did at the crop. It's for the top 3 challenge on the Artypants forum, where we were only allowed to use 3 of our favourite products, Bazzil not included. Mine was printed paper, transparency and chipboard.

Opening Day
At 10.00am 28th July, the doors officially opened with the first customers rolling in. Pretty soon the store was packed and it stayed packed all morning. We managed to have a lull enough to grab some lunch and then the afternoon was filled with packed moments and quiet moments.
But overall; a very successful day.

These 2 photos were actually taken the night before at the crop.

Back in the classroom, it was a buzz of energy as people came in to check it out and meet the teachers. They were also able to have a play with the make and takes that I had set up. Debbie was set up making her beautiful gift cards that are sold in the shop and Bec, one of our other teachers and instore designer was busy making some of her gorgeous creations and finishing her canvas. While I was teaching people how to make the 'make and takes', I too was playing, making other samples and also put together a layout. What a fabulous job I have where I can sit and put together a layout while I work. Here I am hard at work.

And this is the layout I was hard at work doing using the new 'Happily Ever After' papers and embellishments. Jodie has this layout for display instore.

Shae, our teenage teacher who will be helping with the kids classes, did an amazing job of painting kids faces.

Here is Micayla and Jodie's little Cassie. Cassie was telling everyone she's a heart.

And this is the mess Shae got herself into.

All the teachers, including Judy and Jodie have to put together a canvas, describing themselves and/or scrapping experience for the wall in the classroom. I don't have a picture of the other canvases, but this is the one I made.

I didn't realise until the canvas was already at Artypants but the centre button had come off the large flower. It is now back in place and next time I'm in at Artypants, I'll take a new photo of it and replace this one. My name and the chipboard scrolly things at the top and bottom of the flowers are covered with Cyrystalina Kindy Glitz.

What a Little Trooper

Bailey had another set of grommets put in his ears today. He was soooooo good. He went off to sleep with no problems and woke up even better. Last time he cried and couldn't stop when he woke; but this time, he woke up slowly and started pulling funny faces through his oxygen mask. We didn't have one single tear. He then devoured and icy pole and a vegemite sandwich before going home. He was awake all the way home except for the last 10 minutes. When he got home he had another 4 sandwiches and was jumping around playing like he hadn't had an operation. His hearing is already better. When Adrian's mobile rang he covered his ears and said "too loud". The nurses just loved him and said he was the best little patient they'd ever had.

Some New Layouts to share

I did these layouts while the kids were staying at Adrian's parents and Adrian was in Sydney. I have just been way too busy to photograph and upload them. I have been helping Artypants move to their new store in Cranbourne and preparing for the opening day, which is this Saturday 28th July from 10.am. As well as another visit to the allergy specialist and Bailey is off to hospital tomorrow for more grommets. There was also a trip to Wongthaggi in amongst all the mayhem to see the aneathatist (spelling???) for him.

An update on the allergy specialist. I have started my long course of desensitising injections. I have had two lots so far. There is 2 injections each time. I am also definately allergic to cows milk, but it also looks like I'm allergic to Soy as well. The allergy specialist did say the Soy may not help either and it looks like he may be right. I have been on Soy for the past week and felt like I've had a head cold all that time. I'm going off Soy now to see if that makes a difference. What the hell am I going to have now???? I'm going on a girls weekend soon and we are having a cocktail night. All the creamy ones will be out for me. There goes the Bailey's, damn!!!

Oh, by the way; allergy to cows milk also means NO MORE CHOCOLATE. OMG!!! How devastating is that. Fancy telling a chocoholic you can't have anymore chocolate. Yes, I hide my chocolate and try and save a bit for later but don't. If there is no chocolate in the house, I'll make Milo mushy like chocolate until I'm sick. Or I'll freeze up some Ice Magic. I may be able to get away with an allergy free Willows dark chocolate. Lucky for me, dark chocolate is my fav. Or Carob, blah!!!!

The new store is actually 2 stores right next to each other, one being the store and the other will be dedicated to the class/crop room.

There will be lots of exciting things happening on this opening day. So come down and say "hello." You will be able to come into the classroom and 'Meet the Teachers' (that's me, YAY!!!), have a play with some free 'make and takes' and pick up a class timetable, even book in for some exciting classes we have coming up.

There will be exciting things happening in store too. Some exciting new products just waiting for opening day to be released. Who knows? you may even be lucky enough to walk away with some fabulous prizes. But of course the only way to get all this is to be in store on Saturday 28th July.

Peaceful days to Scrap

I've had a very blissful couple of days. Adrian went to Sydney Tuesday morning and the kids went for a holiday to Oma and Opa's for a couple of days. Oma and Opa took the kids to the radio station where Oma is a DJ for a dutch program in the Mornington Peninsula. The report back was that they were both very confident speaking over the airways and Bailey really played the part well with the headphones on and talking into the microphone. I hope to have the pics to share with you very soon.

They all didn't return until Thursday, so I had a lovely time by myself. I went out with friends on Tuesday night and spent all day and night Wednesday scrapping. Here are a couple of layouts I completed in that time.

This one was for a challenge on Scrapbooking4less. I was challenged to put a layout together using felt, chipboard and 3 different fonts. The felt flowers and small chipboard lettering are from Juliescraftstop. These are available through www.artypants.com.au

This layout was created for Blog Me Baby - Beautiful like a Rainbow challenge.

I will have more layouts to share as soon as I photograph and upload them.

A busy weekend

On Saturday we went to Darren and Mel's to celebrate Kealy's 6th birthday. She had a disco party. We got there around 12 noon and didn't leave until about 11pm. Lots of drinking was done by Darren and Adrian. LOL!!! Later that night there was a question going around that everyone who walked in the room was asked, "Who would you turn gay for?" There's something for you to think about.

Here are some pics of the party with the kids.

Bailey and Deegan eating their lolly bags and Micayla and Kealy together.

Micayla is doing her 'party trick'. I remember a time when I too could do this.

Bailey kickin' back, Holden thru and thru. "Go Holden!!!"

On Sunday afternoon I went along to Laura's baby shower. We didn't make the baby shower that was organised when she was pregnant with Kaytie, because Laura so inconsiderately went into labour that very morning. So second time around we actually all made it there with baby still tucked up safe inside Laura. We all had to guess what she's having. I said she's having a girl until we did the ring thing and now I want to change my order. I wonder what was going through Laura's mind while we were all guessing because she knows what she's having. So frustrating that she won't tell us. I had a nice afternoon because Adrian took the kids to the boat show, which gave me a nice peaceful couple of hours.

HELLO - I'm here somewhere under all my scrapping supplies!!!

I have been way too busy trying to complete all my projects for the Scrapbooking Memories Masters Competition. I've completed both my single and double layouts, my mini book and my 200 words. Just gotta get my scrapping storage item completed and then I can photograph them all and get them postal.

I have been so busy cramming all this that I haven't been able to do any layouts that I can share online. I've been given a couple of challenges to complete and can't wait to get my teeth sunk into them. Looking forward to being able to share my work again. Hopefully by the end of the week I just may have something.

Fingers crossed I won't have to do the Masters again next year. LOL.
