Mt Baw Baw

Micayla had been nagging us to take her to the snow for the last couple of years and we promised we would when we got some decent snow. So Saturday 25th August we did just that. It was an absolutely beautiful day. Sun was shining and we spent most of the day without our jackets and gloves.

We headed off early with Darren, Mel, Kealy and Deegan to Mt Baw Baw. Micayla was so excited she couldn't sit still in the car and must've asked every 5 minutes if we were nearly there. Aaagghhh!!!! Once we started seeing snow on the side of the mountain, both the kids were jumping out of there seats.

We just went for sight seeing. The kids were having a ball on the Toboggans. We started off here at the toboggan run. It was very busy and the snow was very dirty.

This is Micayla and Bailey riding down together. Note Bailey has his airborne.

Bailey has the right idea. He has a slave to haul him up the hill.

There were 3 things Micayla wanted to do the most at the snow. Ride a Toboggan, touch the snow with her bare hands and build a snowman. She even packed a carrot for the nose.

Now who are the bigger kids. Of course it had to be the biggest snowman on the mountain so Adrian and Darren took control. Note the snowball mid air as Darren and Adrian work their production line.

Even I came out from behind the camera to do my bit. And the kids proudly showing off their efforts of building a snowman.

This is Bailey, Kealy and Micayla having a rest while we're building the snowman.

We obviously don't feed the kids enough that they have to eat the snow.

And what's a trip to the snow without a snowball fight.

Yes, I came out from behind the camera again to join in this fun. I did ride a toboggan but that's on video only.

Bailey is laying claim to his snowball, ready to throw at Deegan.

The kids discovered a nice little hill to slide down on their bums over where we were building the snowman. But of course not only the little kids found that was fun!

All the kids came down together and Micayla hit the ditch first.

Followed by Bailey and Deegan.

Bailey sitting in the ditch at the bottom. It's actually what's left of our snowman. And then trying to get out. He had a bit of trouble. He looks like he's climbing a glacier.

Or were we trying to bury him alive?

Deegan taking a tumble.

We stopped for lunch when Bailey was complaining he was wet. We stripped him off and he sat at the table eating his lunch with no pants on LOL, while his clothes were drying in front of the fire. Once dry he was happy and we headed back out to the mountain.

We later discovered a nice hill of softer white snow, where we could really gather up some speed on the toboggans. Adrian stood down the bottom ready to catch the kids and stop them before they crashed. But they ended up in a ditch with the bushes.

While Mel sat up the top helping them onto the toboggans before they went sliding down the hill.

Naughty!!!!!!

We did get in trouble and were told to move. So we moved over a little bit and that was OK.

Micayla

Kealy - What an awesome stack!!!

Bailey is just lovin' this. Until he'd discovered he was pretty wet again and for him it was time to go home. It was after 3pm by this stage and we decided he was right. They all did so well. They did get quite wet but never complained until they stopped. But even then, they'd had so much fun that they didn't really complain much when they'd stopped either.

The kids getting a ride back to the car. Talk about lazy!!!!

Unfortunately we can't take the credit for this sculpture. Mel and I discovered this on the way back to collect our bags and couldn't resist the photo opportunity. ROFL!!!!

They all bombed out in the cars on the way home. Bailey travelled home with Deegan in Mel and Darren's car and Kealy came home with us in our car. It was quite a nice quiet peaceful trip home. But of course with their sleeps, they were firing on all cylinders, so we went back to Darren and Mel's for tea of Kentucky and the kids played while we looked through the photos and video. All 185 photos. That's why there is so many on here, how do I decide.

I have to make special mention to Scott and Tania. Thanks heaps guys for the loan of your snow gear. We really appreciate you loaning it all to us. Wish you could've been there with us too. As was the plan the week before but didn't happen.

Still too sick for Injections

Went to the doctors this morning to have the injections I was supposed to have on Wednesday, but I'm still too sick with my asthma. I am a lot better than I was 2 days ago, but am still quite short of breath and can't hold a conversation for any length of time without needing rest breaks and come up for air LOL. He has extended my prednisilone until Tuesday. I have to go in next Wednesday to have this weeks dose of my desensitising injections. I'm staying home today and getting the rest he ordered me to have last Tuesday. I picked up my design team pack from ArtyPants this morning, so I'm going to REST working on that. This is going to be fun.

Things a Bit Crazy

Well we had the dreaded lurgy go through this household. It started off with Micayla getting the flu and up vomiting on the Saturday night (2 Saturday's ago). She ended up having the day off school on the Monday. Then Bailey and Adrian came down with it around the same time. I thought I was going to get away without getting it, but NOOOO!!! of course not. The only problem is I was the one who copped it the worst. I came down with it on the Thursday and was dosing up on Cold and Flu tablets just to get me through the day. By Sunday I was feeling fine and thought I'd seen the end of it. Well I woke up Monday morning, had my shower ready to get Micayla off to school but had to climb back into bed. Luckily Adrian was having the day off work so he took Micayla to school and I slept until lunch time and then lazed around the house for the rest of the day. Adrian picked Micayla up from school and took her to Gymnastics.

Then trying to sleep that night. My breathing was very noisy and crackly and it was difficult to get any air. No amount of coughing would clear the noisy breathing. So I took about 6 puffs of my ventolin, still didn't ease it so I took another 6. Eased it a little and took another 6 and found myself drifting off to sleep. I then knew what it was. It definitely wasn't the flu anymore. So Tuesday morning it was off to the doctor. Sure enough, I was having an asthma attack and the doctor put me onto Prednisilone for 3 days. We were both surprised to see my asthma this bad as we have had it well managed for years now. He then sent me home with orders to rest so I went to bed for another couple of hours. Luckily Adrian was still home from work and picked Micayla up from school.

I couldn't rest on Wednesday though. I had a class to teach at Artypants. Which I have to say my classes are proving quite popular and I am having so much fun doing them. After the class I had to go back to the doctors to have my desensitising injections. I had to use my ventolin twice in a space of 20 mins since arriving at the doctors. The doctor listened to my lungs before I was to have my injections and wasn't happy with the way they were sounding. He thought that after 2 days of being on the Prednisilone I would've been better than I was. So he refused to give me the injections for fear it would trigger a reaction and make my lungs worse. Given that I was already on Prednisilone, it would mean an immediate trip to hospital and was way too dangerous. He wasn't taking any chances. He also extended my days on the Prednisilone. I have to go back Friday for my injections now. After that I had to pick Bailey up from creche then Micayla from school. A friend came for a quick coffee. Some quick work on the computer to amend the class timetable ready to take back to ArtyPants when I went to teach another class that night. Right after I fed and cleaned up after the troops and got everything ready for school etc the next day. By the time I got home I was exhausted and went to bed. Had a really bad night, what seemed like I was waking up every hour in need of the ventolin. Note to self: really must get some rest. But.......

Today I've just done all the housework. Once I get off here I'm going to lay down in bed with my Scrapbooking Memories magazine before I go and pick up Micayla and take her swimming. Then I'm off tonight to do a class with Fleurie, we're going to be learning how to make a Secret Box Card. Off to the docs tomorrow, hopefully will have my injections, cause my lungs should be better. On a positive note I am only needing my ventolin 3-4 hourly instead of 1-2 hourly now. Which is good cause all this ventolin is making my chest feel like I've been hit by a bus and I've got the shakes. So at least there is an improvement there.

Fathers Day

Dad got his present early. With Father's Day only being 2 weeks away and with Mum and Dad visiting over the weekend, we decided to give his present to him then. Dad is always writing lists of things he needs to get done (must be where I get it from). So I made him a 'Dad's Things To Do Pad' with a matching card. He said he's always stealing Mum's shopping list pad to use for his 'things to do'.

Mum and Dad's New Puppy

Mum and Dad came to visit on Sunday and brought their new little puppy Ellie with them. Look how cute she is. The kids wouldn't leave her alone. Especially Bailey. He kept picking her up and the way he held her kept squashing her tummy and she'd just had a meal. Cause of course it all came back up again. Monty and Ellie had a great time together too and I don't know who wouldn't leave who alone.

Doodling Class

I taught my first class at Artypants today. I had so much fun. I had 4 students and we had so much fun doodling and chatting. I think everyone enjoyed themselves. Two of the students booked in for my transparency class for next week, the other two were already booked in. Can't wait to do that one. Transparencies are my fav atm and it's so much fun teaching.

Some More Layouts to Share

These beautiful papers and frangapannis came in at Artypants and I just loved them. I found this photo taken of Micayla back when she was 10 months old and thought it fitted the paper perfectly. I made a transparency window that the photo and journalling sit behind.

I did these layouts at a 2 in 2 class at Artypants. Jodie showed us how to put these 2 layouts together in two hours.

This is a layout Micayla put together of Elle, my parents new puppy. I bought her some rubons to thank her for helping us pack up at Artypants. She couldn't wait to use them. I cut the cardstock for her and gave her a few suggestions and let her do the rest on her own. I just love her layout. I think her doodling is fantastic. She's done a fantastic job. Do you think she might follow in my footsteps???? She can't wait till she's old enough to come to crops.
