Joey and Zoe's Wedding

On Saturday 16th March we went up to Sherbrooke to celebrate Joe and Zoe's wedding. It was a hot day, somewhere in the high 30's.

David and Laura's little Kaytie was the flower girl. Just look at her, isn't she adorable.

After the ceremony, which was held at the same place as the reception, we all went down to the rotunda where they had a butterfly ceremony. The bridal party and parents released butterflies with wishes for the bride and groom to go with them. Apparantly, the legend is that you tell the butterfly your wish, and because they are so quite your wish will never be heard by anyone else, but the butterflies carry your wish to a spirit in the universe, which grants the couple the wish.

If you look closely at the photo you can see some butterflies flying away.

Actually they are very hard to see in this little shot.

Our car was used again.

Check out the look on Zoe's face as Joe swigs his beer. Get used to this Zoe.
Here we are having a few happy snaps taken while we wait for the reception to start.
This photo is of the sister and sister in laws of Joe (and now Zoe). From left to right is Paula, Greg's girlfriend, Yvonne, Joe's sister, Laura, Dave's wife and Mel, Steve's fiance. Then me! I guess you could say I'm a cousin in law by marriage. Greg, Dave and Steve are Joe's brothers. They were all in the wedding party. Which left a table of all the girls, plus Yvonne and her husband Damien and us. It was such a fun table. There were lots of laughs, chinking of glasses (gone overboard during the speeches) and lots of drinking as you can see in these photos of Laura. Laura was doing cartwheels on the lawn at the end of the night. Who needs to drink when you can watch Laura drink. I was in stitches all night.
Here is a nice photo of Steve and Mel.
And a candid moment of Mel pretending to propose to Steve on 1 knee. Steve has already done that though on a previous occassion. I didn't intend to take this photo. She did it at the perfect moment as I was snapping a few dancing photos.
And Damien getting down and having a boogie.
It was such a fun night. Dave in particular did a fantastic job at the speeches and Greg, now that Zoe is married, reluctantly gave Zoe back her key to her back door, as did half a dozen other guys from around the room. But the big shock was when I went up a surrendered my key to Zoe too. LOL. Took her face in both my hands, kissed her and said "spewin' babe". He He He!!! If anyone reading this is unaware and a little shocked by this revelation. This is a common 'telegram' type joke often played at weddings. Don't know if it's commonly seen with a woman giving away the key also though.
