An ECG for Bailey

OMG; I got the shock of my life when I saw the doctor today. It was just a routine check after finishing the antibiotics and to follow up on his xray that the hospital doctor told me was nothing to worry about. I don't know what he was thinking. As it turns out, my doctor was surprised I wasn't in to see him earlier and didn't realise the hospital doctor didn't tell me. BUT as it turns out, he had viral pnuemonia something something (big long doctor word) and get this, fluid around an enlarged heart. I nearly died. He sent me straight next door for an ECG and I have to go back to the hospital in 2 weeks for a follow up xray. The doctor rang the piediatrician (Spelling????) while I was there but didn't see the need to refer him because after listening to his heart and lungs he is "clinically well". His lungs were crystal clear and there was no murmor in his heart, so that is reassuring. The nurses were so lovely to Bailey and even put tape and a bandage on Jiggles (Bailey's favourite teddy) just so he was like him. How cute. He was SUCH a good boy.

Oh wait a minute; phone is ringing, I'll be back.

Yep it was the doctor, just this second got the results of the ECG and they are normal. Yeah!!! What a relief!!!

Star of the Week

Micayla was Star of the Week in her class last week. She got to be in charge of show and tell. She was very excited about it. She also won a prize at assembly. Every week she has to put a slip in at the office to say her family has read the school newsletter and from that they draw a winner. She was so excited to show me her prize when I picked her up. It was a poster of a horse and some vouchers for McDonalds, Red Rooster, Pancake Parlour and the Drive In. We'll have to take her now just so she can use her vouchers.

Another Trip to Hospital

If it's not one it's the other. Two nights ago Micayla woke up suddenly with severe stomach pains. She was rolling around the ground doubled over crying with pain. She kept saying "I don't know what to do". She started throwing up, I was worried about appendicitis so I ended up rushing her to emergency. She'd been complaining about mild pains over the past couple of weeks also and had a day off school with vomiting. So I was becoming very worried. Once there they triaged her straight through. She was still vomiting and crying and doubled over when we got there. The preped her hand with cream to make her hand numb incase they need to take blood. But after a couple of vomits she came really good and the doctor could find nothing wrong and sent her home and there has been no problem since. She did eat an awful lot for tea, which the doctor said could be the problem but I just think she was grasping for a reason. She made me feel like an idiot for bringing her in, but she didn't see her when we got there. I hate it when they do that. I just told her I wasn't going to take the chance, you didn't see her when she first came in.On our way out the mother of the girl in the next bed stopped me. As it turns out her little girl was brought in with exactly the same symptons and after a couple of vomits was fine again. But this little girl also goes to the same school as Micayla. Makes you wonder doesn't it?

Scrappers Block Cured - Thanks Bec!

I've been suffering a bit of scrappers block over the last couple of days. Must've been all scrapped out from last weekend. But thanks to my lovely friend Bec from my favourite scrapbooking chat site at Scrapbooking Memories, she has helped to bring back my 'mojo'. Bec was taking a bit of stress relief out on her flower punches, punching an endless amount of flowers on various coloured paper and then gave them away to some of us on the site. When I received them in the post (always fun to get scrapping goodies instead of bills) I spread them out on my desk to have a look at them and came up with a brain wave, it was just a matter of finding the right photos to go with it. I put this layout together in about 1/2 an hour, a record for me. These photos were taken in the caravan in Moama. It was raining outside and I was playing around with my camera, snapping at Micayla lying on the floor with her colouring books. I really love how it's turned out and it's thanks to Bec.

Bailey had his 1st ride in an Ambulance

Bailey had his first ride in an ambulance to the hospital last night. I had spent all evening trying to get his temp down. He had panadol at 7pm and again at 11pm and during this whole time his temp stayed at 39. After 11pm it actually started increasing so I called an ambulance. They came very quickly with lights and sirens. They took him to Casey hospital, which is a brand new hospital and has only had it's ED up and running for the last 6 months. It used to only be open until 9pm, I didn't know it had changed. No more going to Dandenong, yeah! Anyway, they did a chest xray to make sure he didn't have pnuemonia, thankfully he didn't. So in the end they gave him Nurofen, which brought his temp down. I usually use Nurofen and Panadol together but I'd run out of Nurofen. They sent me home at 3am with a bottle of Nurofen and advice to continue what I'm doing and let it run its course and continue with the antibiotics. He was so sick though. Normally, even sick, he would be quite lively and chatting etc, but he just laid on the hospital bed, so drowsy, all he wanted was sleep and to be left alone. So I just sat there catching up on my scrapping reading. The nurse was into scrapping too. She'd just started but was already hooked and couldn't wait to get stuck into the 100s of photos they took in Thailand. I'm soooo tired. I've only about 15 hours sleep over the last 5 days. Adrian's having his car serviced today so he is at home and can watch Bailey while I go back to bed and catch up on sleep before I get sick too.

Bailey is Soooo Sick

Poor little man! He came down with a slight temperature and bad cough on Sunday and by Monday had developed into an infection with a fever over 40 degrees. I rushed him down to the doctor because I couldn't lower his temp. The doctor said he was glad I brought him down and that he looks really sick. He has an infection in his chest, which the doctor is worried could turn into pnuemonia. He also has really red swollen tonsils but it's not tonsilits. He is now on antibiotics but if his temp doesn't go away by Wednesday, it's a trip back to the doctors. I was up to him twice last night and up for an hour both times trying to lower his temp. I stripped his pj's off but everytime I tried to take the doona off, he'd only pull it back up again. I managed to get him to lie under just the sheet, and I put a face cloth over his head. His temp still didn't want to come down very much. I organised for Micayla to be taken to school by someone else again this morning. Bailey is too miserable to take out in this cold weather. I hate not taking Micayla to school and not being the one to do her reader and settle her into class.
